The Chakrabhand Posayakrit Museum

The Chakrabhand Posayakrit Foundation has a wide collection of art and fine arts.

                        1.      Collection of original paintings and sketch designs
                                 The Foundation President Chakrabhand Posakrit has a large collection of his original works in painting and
                        drawing in watercolour, pastel, tempera and oil, in Thai traditional and realistic styles, as works by himself alone
                        and by collaboration and collective efforts in the same artistic style.
                                 The original sketches done for the projects in painting, sculpture and fine arts, such as the design of the
                        centerpiece curtain of Thailand’s Cultural Centre in 1986 and the current design of the centerpiece curtain of the
                        renovated National Theatre, in drawing and painting, are kept in the collection.

                                 The 1000+ original sketches in drawing and painting for the temple murals at Wat Trithosathep and
                        Wat Khao Sukim, since 1990, the projects of which are underway and ongoing.

                        2.      Puppet collection
                                 The Foundation has collections of old and newly-constructed puppets:
                                 A large collection of Royal Puppet heads, old puppet heads, century-old puppets, costumes and accessories,
                        including rod puppets, sets and props from the past productions of the Chakrabhand Posayakrit Puppet Theatre,
                        particularly the entire Three Kingdoms collection of 100+ puppets and painted backdrops, embroidered curtains and
                        three-dimensional set pieces, as staged at Thailand’s Cultural Centre in 1989.
                                 The ongoing project of Taleng Phai, which once completed will have 200+ puppets.  Currently, there are 140
                        puppets made, not including mounts such as elephants and horses, several 5x8 metre painted backdrops, a bas-
                        relief retractable panel, exquisitely embroidered curtains, a palanquin, wooden set pieces for the Siamese and
                        Burmese palace scenes, as well as considerable props.
                                 A collection of original sketches of puppet and costume construction, original and revised scripts, etc., all of
                        which are done by a company of skillful artists and maestros.

                        3.      Buddhist art collection
                                 The Foundation has a large collection of Buddha statues of different periods, in hundreds.

                        4.      Blue and white porcelain collection
                                 The Foundation has a large collection of blue and white porcelain in hundreds.

                        5.      Musical instrument collection
                                 The Foundation has a large collection of musical instruments including rare antiques, a big orchestra of piphat
                        instruments, Burmese, Mon, Thai and western orchestra, most of which were acquired to accompany the orchestra,
                        but some of which were donated by aficionados of Thai art and culture.
                                 The art collections are meant to become national heritage for educational and research purposes for the
                        general public and the next generations.
                                 The Foundation site has been home and workplace of the Foundation President for the past 50 years.  This
                        place has seen innumerable masterpieces in creation, as well as collaboration of 5 maestros and national artists in
                        multiple fields, who left their outstanding marks in creating collective art:

                                 3.      Kru Boonyong Ketkong, music maestro
                                 4.      Kru Boonyang Ketkong, music maestro
                                 5.      Kru Chamnien Srithaipan, music maestro
                                 Given the above reasons, the Foundation has set up this site as a private museum, with a contention of
                        preserving invaluable works of art and the history and history-in-the-making of Thai art, as well as conserving
                        everything in its original forms as best as possible, with a full awareness of the values of Thai arts and crafts and
                        the objective of passing them on as national heritage for the benefits of the nation.
